General Terms of Service

5th Gear is an online and real-world community for car enthusiasts all over the United States. We pride ourselves in being a friendly and inviting community to any and all car enthusiasts.

To keep up with our community standards, we do not tolerate any of the following:

• Material that discriminates against race, gender, age, color, ethnicity, or medical or mental disability.
• Material that depicts any violent or illegal activities including but not limited to illegal drugs, weapons, crimes, or any other material of that nature.
• Links that appear to be spam, phishing, or click-bait links.
• Threatening, bullying, harassing, or spamming other members.

Any member found to be in violation of any of our terms will be suspended or banned from 5th Gear.

Profile Information & Photos

Members should respect the privacy of all other members at all times.

In order to help protect your privacy, members have the option of changing privacy settings for most of the information provided for their profile.

All privacy settings default to public. It is the user’s responsibility to change any privacy settings as desired.

5th Gear is not responsible for any information a user displays on their profile.

Photos including avatar photos and cover photos should not violate any of our community standards.

News Feed

Users can post status updates that include text, photos, GIFs, links, and more on the 5th Gear News Feed.

The News Feed is visible to all members of our site and all community standards apply to all news feed posts.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
